Connecting...: Greeters

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that, some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2

Greeters show that warmth and joy to guests who visit Good Samaritan.   A greeter is likely the first person a guest encounters at Good Sam.  The greeter explains the facility and introduces the guest to other parishioners.

Greeters serve at one service per month arriving 20 minutes before the service begins and staying through coffee hour.  Prior to serving, greeters pray in preparation. On Sunday, besides warmly welcoming guests, they invite them to sign the Guest Book and make a nametag.  (We all have nametags and use them.)  Greeters escort families to the appropriate Sunday School class and introduce the family to the teacher and make them feel at home whatever their situation. They are also outside the worship center at the conclusion of the service to give guests a copy of our newsletter, the Tidings, and answer any questions they might have.

What a pastoral way to serve the Lord! This ministry is also instrumental in fulfilling our mission statement, “Welcome everyone to be part of our Christian family ….”.
