Christian Formation

Proverbs 3:13-15

13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
     and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
     nothing you desire can compare with her.

“Good Samaritan is a congregation of intelligent seekers of Wisdom and Truth from Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and the Kingdom of God, which includes all God’s Creation.”

pic 13 formationGood Sam seeks to educate all its members and bring them into full life in the church. This begins with a variety of age-appropriate programs for children during the service up through their junior high years. At this time we do not have an active, structured Christian formation program for high school students. Older students serve along with adults by doing readings or serving as acolytes.

We currently use curricula from Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Godly Play, and Re:form. Outside of the Sunday activities, students of all ages can join in Impossible Games, a program developed by one of our parishioners to teach good social interactions and critical thinking.

For adults, we have weekly adult education forums after the service, bringing in speakers who will choose to either guide our lives or bring to our attention larger issues in our area and the world. Various Bible studies throughout the week enrich the learning for many groups of adults.

“What touches my spirit is the way children are truly respected, loved, and included in a real way at Good Sam.”
