Meet & Greet KIMBERLY BEDELL – GS Music Director
Time: 7:30 pm
A Invitation from Kimberly Bedell
Dear Friends at Good Sam Church,
I am very much looking forward to being in new ministry together with you beginning this upcoming week and am super excited about our first service together on August 21.
In addition to my invitation to chat any time you might like to that was included in the Good Sam Notes recently, I’d also like to extend invitations to two particular events:
- On Wednesday, August 17 at 7:30 pm, join me and the bell choir in the nursery as we visit and get to know one another. This will not be a bell choir rehearsal as such; but, if this ministry is something you are considering, this would be a nice opportunity to come, ask questions and get to know us. If you’re just plain curious about anything relating to music, this is for you as well!
- Or, come check out the choir on Thursday, August 18 at 7:00 pm. (And, just because you come to practice, you don’t have to join choir.) This is an opportunity to get to know us, possibly sing with us on Sunday, and have a great time on a Thursday evening.
Join us for one or both gatherings, won’t you?
A Message from Kimberly Bedell – Good Sam’s Music Director
Dear Friends at Good Samaritan,
I am thrilled to be starting a journey in ministry with you as your Director of Music. Getting to know Janine and the committee helping her in the discernment process was a delight and I am excited to be a part of the loving and vibrant ministry at Good Samaritan.
Though it will be mid-August before I start at Good Sam, I will be around a bit for meetings, opportunities to get to know folks, and getting settled in. Until I get officially started, though, I thought you might like to know a little more about me.
I have a B.S. in Music and French from Indiana University. Directly after receiving that degree, I went to Germany to be a nanny for a family with 3 children; at the time it made perfect sense! Looking back now, I feel so fortunate to have had that experience (and the experiences that have arisen because of it). But, I do sometimes wonder what I was thinking, not knowing the language or much about early childhood development.
Later, after some time back in the U.S., I earned a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting and a Graduate Certificate in Church Music from University of Iowa. Since completing that degree, I’ve been in the San Diego area as a church musician, private music teacher, and conductor.
On a more personal note, I was raised in Arkansas (with family roots in the mid-West). I currently live in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego with my husband, Mark; my freshwater tropical fish aquarium; and his N-scale train layout. I’ve been dabbling a bit with Origami and found it to be fun. I am a fan of the San Antonio Spurs, the Padres (sorry, Janine), BachCollegium of San Diego, Old Globe Theater, and the Birch Aquarium at Scripps.
I would welcome conversation at any time with any who might like to visit. I would love to get to know your interests and passions. I would also like to especially welcome conversation and with anyone who has questions about or interest in Good Sam’s music ministry. Though I love working with both singing and bell choirs, I also very much enjoy working with singers or instrumentalists (of almost any level) who might like to add to the music ministry. So, if you play the flute, saxophone, xylophone, or even tuba, I would be delighted to have you as part of our music ministry.
With all best wishes for a great and safe summer and until mid-August,
