Genesee Ave. Construction for

Mid-Coast Trolley Project – IMPORTANT INFO!!!!

Beginning February 2017, new construction activities will begin along Genesee Avenue to facilitate construction of the Mid-Coast trolley extension.  SANDAG has notified Good Samaritan the construction along the Genesee church frontage will begin Monday, February 6, 2017 and is expected to extend over 14 months.  The following construction activities may impact travel to and from Good Samaritan.

Starting in early February: Work will begin to widen Genesee Avenue, from Regents Road to La Jolla Village Drive. This work includes barrier installation, road re-striping, median and sidewalk demolition, and preparation to construct the viaduct — a bridge structure that will carry the trolley down the middle of Genesee Avenue.

Several different traffic control phases involving lane closures and shifts will be ongoing as this work progresses. Traffic control signs, including necessary detours, will be posted. These types of traffic controls will be deployed at various times through early 2018.

Construction activities will begin in the northbound lanes, followed by work in the southbound lanes beginning spring 2017.

Work hours are Monday through Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Traffic controls will remain in place 24 hours a day.

DAYTIME STREET CLOSURE –

Friday, February 10, through Monday, February 13, 2017:

Genesee Avenue, from La Jolla Village Drive to Nobel Drive will be closed while crews work on connecting water and sewer systems. This is a full road closure. Please detour via Regents Road and Towne Centre Drive. Use the Nobel Drive entrance to access Costa Verde Center.

Work hours are 11 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, through 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017.

Late February/Early March: Crews will demolish and permanently remove the pedestrian bridge at Executive Square and Genesee Avenue during one weekend in late February or early March. This work will require a full closure of Genesee Avenue from La Jolla Village Drive to Eastgate Mall. A new pedestrian crossing signal will be installed. Advanced notice will be provided to nearby businesses and residents prior to the beginning of this work.

Please heed all traffic signs and traffic flagger direction, and use caution when traveling near the work area.

Crews will minimize impacts to neighboring residents and businesses as much as possible. Check for any changes in bus routes and stops at www.sdmts.com.  Construction schedules are subject to change.
