Meet The Rev. Dr. Richard Lee

The Rev. Dr. Richard Lee was ordained to the transitional diaconate on June 11th this year at St. Paul’s Cathedral, San Diego.   Pending approvals, he will be ordained to the priesthood on December 17th here at Good Samaritan.

Richard was born in Leicester, in the heart of the England, but at the age of 18 moved to Bangor, in North Wales, where he studied Electronic Engineering.  He liked Wales so much that he stayed there to get a Ph.D. in Biophysics.  Whilst living in Wales Richard became deeply involved with the Church in Wales as well as spending two months working with the Mar Thoma church in Kerala, South India.   Richard says that this experience had a great influence on his life and became a strong foundation for his continued work with the Church Mission Society, interfaith dialogue and working with people at the margins of society.

Richard moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2000 to work for a biotech start up and then came to San Diego in 2004.  He recently completed his seminary studies at the diocesan School for Ministry.  He lives in Old Ton with his husband, Antonio, and is both excited and humbled to be called to serve at Good Samaritan.
