The following is taken from the rector’s reflection in the February 2007 issue of the Tidings, echoing his presentation to the congregation at the Annual General Meeting in January 2007.

We as a community must continue to seek where it is God is working, where it is that God is calling us to be.
So, I am prepared to commit myself to the task of striving towards three goals over the next three years, three goals that I believe god is calling us towards.
I am prepared to commit myself to the goal of reaching out to the youth of our community;
I am prepared to commit myself to growth and
I am prepared to commit myself to serving the poor.
I am asking you, inviting you, to join me in this work. I do not know what this work looks like specifically but I believe it is work God is calling us into. What it looks like is dependent upon each and every one of you. You have skills and knowledge, insights and imaginations, creativity and dreams that together will move us towards these goals.
I would ask each of you over the next three years to make these goals the pillars of all that we do. In all that we undertake, can we ask ourselves the question: is this reaching the youth, including the campus at UCSD; is it inviting new members into a relationship with their God; and is it reaching out to the poor and needy?
It has to be an intentional effort. If we can make this our collective goal, I believe that in three years there will be a momentum to attain the dream that many of you have spoken about over the last couple of years: a full sanctuary at Good Samaritan. By the way, it is not only your dream but it belongs to God as well. Let’s go harvest.
