Prayer Chain Ministry

The Prayer Chain Ministry is devoted to prayer. We pray for God’s will to be accomplished in your life.  Members of this Ministry are available and praying 24 hours per day.  Our function is prayers, we do not judge anyone. We maintain a code of confidentiality at all times.  The prayer chain meets quarterly.

When in need of prayer please contact: Rebecca Chase, chair

If you would like more information or wish to be come involved in the Prayer Chain Ministry, please contact Rebecca Chase.

What the Prayer Chain Does
The Prayer Chain prays for everybody and everything submitted to their prayer email list. As Chris said in his article last September: "The prayer chain has discerned a call to a ministry of prayer and will take time to lift to God any request that is made."

That is, any request from American Samoa, or what ever comes in through our "prayer request" page on our website. That is, any prayer needs for natural or human-made disasters. That is, any prayer request that a friend of a friend of a friend needs.

"What it does mean is, we as a community, trust those who are called by God to pray on our behalf and allow them to live into their ministry and lift all our requests to God on a daily basis. This is the promise of members of the prayer chain team. They commit to pray for us, our family, our friends, our neighbors, our diocese, our nation and any other request for prayer that comes their way. They are mighty prayer warriors and we thank God that we have them in our midst" (from the end of Chris' article.)

What About the List in the Good Sam Notes?

The list in the Good Sam Notes is a subset of those prayer requests. The list in the Notes lists the names of parishioners and their family members. This is because the church as a community need to pray for those in their community. The Prayer Chain prays for those in their community and any other prayer request.

How Can I Submit A Prayer Request?

You can give a prayer request (any request, self/family/friends/etc):
  • to any individual member of the prayer chain
  • to Rebecca Chase: who continues to collect prayers sent in from our website and which are emailed directly to her
  • to anyone in the office
  • to Barbara Theiss, Parish Nurse
  • online via the prayer chain request
Rebecca Chase will keep track of prayer requests and send an updated list once a month  to the the Prayer Chain's email so that members know who to continue to pray for, and who is no longer in need of prayer.

She will call the prayer chain members who are not on email to relay the prayer requests, as often as she feels necessary.

What the Prayer Chain Promise To Do:

The prayer chain list is completely CONFIDENTIAL. Nothing shared on the list should be shared outside the list, including with the person being prayed for.

Before posting a prayer request, the prayer chain member will check with the person about what information they are comfortable in sharing with the Prayer Chain. If in any doubt, the prayer chain members will only share the bare minimum, that is, their name.

Prayer Chain members will keep Rebecca informed as to the progress of the person being prayed for, especially if prayers are no longer needed.
