We are the younger, crazier version of the rest of the church. While we may be small in stature, our spiritual lives are well in bloom. Every Sunday, we meet at 9:15 AM in our classes (Godly Play, Rite 13 and J to A) to further our Christian education under the guidance of our devoted teachers who lead us down the spiritual road from cradle to adulthood.
We are involved with the rest of the congregation in annual events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Mardi Gras Dinner, Christmas Pageant and Vacation Bible School. Many of our members are also involved as acolytes or lectors in the worship services on Sundays.
Aside from our weekly meetings in our Sunday classes, once a month we have a large group activity that brings together our middle school (Rite 13) and high school (J to A) members.
Past activities have included trips to Magic Mountain, Boomers, Hawaii and Big Bear (for the annual winter snowboarding trip) as well as “lock-ins” in the church sanctuary on Saturday nights. Often in the summer, we will substitute weekly beach days for our regular meetings to enjoy the famous San Diego sunshine

Recently, we have attended retreats at Camp Stevens in Julian. Here we enjoyed fellowship, acting in plays, hiking, rock climbing and general madness. We have journeyed to the Miramar Air Field, participated in a U2 Eucharist at St. Andrew’s and volunteered at the Interfaith shelter. As many of our members are involved in St. Paul’s choir, we frequently attend their beautiful concerts. In the future we look to expand our young adult membership and increase our relationship with God and each other.
We look to discover who we are and who God is to each one of us as He shapes the road our lives will take. Throughout our years at Good Samaritan, we have built relationships with other youth members and our teachers that have shaped us immeasurably and helped us to discover His role in our lives. As we have recently gotten a new head Reverend, who is the proud owner of purple Converse, our youth program will undoubtedly continue to grow in strength and numbers in the upcoming years.
